Your questions answered: all about books

Library books

While the library remains closed, no books can be returned or recalled.  Please hold onto any books that you currently have.  All loans will renew automatically until we eventually re-open.

If you are leaving the UK and will not be returning please email with your details so that we can remove the books from your Library account and then leave the books behind in either your Halls of Residence or your private accommodation, preferably with an accompanying note asking your landlord to return them to the University Library!

Postal loans

We cannot post printed books to anyone at the moment because we are all working from home and the Library building is closed to everyone.  If no ebook version is available of a book you need, please email  We will try to supply an electronic copy if one is available or ask your Faculty Librarian to help you find the information you need from an alternative source.

Don’t forget to check whether we have an ebook version available!  More on ebooks in this earlier blog post.
