Finding free journal articles outside the Library

apple core photoChoosing either one of the “Full Text Online Only” or “Full Text (Online and Print)” options in the Discovery Service will ensure you only ever see materials that you can access from the Library.  Some of the more specialist databases available from the My Subject webpages, or the Discovery Service if you untick both boxes, will find materials to which we do not have immediate access.

Interlibrary loans

Anything that we have do not have access to immediately and that is not available through Core we can get through an interlibrary loan.  If you found something through the Discovery Service, you only have to click the interlibrary loan link and the order form will complete itself.

Introducing Core: instant free articles

Before you order your interlibrary loan, you might want to look for a free copy from Core, a search engine that finds only genuine, free copies of scholarly journal articles.  You might well find the article you want and be able to download it immediately, saving your interlibrary loan credits for something you cannot get any other way.
