Creative Arts Book of the Week 09/01/15

This week’s book is the Metric Handbook.  Why? Because architecture students are very keen to access it.  It is one of those oddities that is hidden within another resource, in this instance, Construction Information Service.  The Metric Handbook is a key resource for architects and designers and includes the fundamental rules, principles and conventions required to design buildings.  These include such things as building sizes, precedents and standards.  It also includes broader principles relating to materials, acoustics, lighting and design data on human dimensions.  It is updated regularly in line with building regulations and standards and that’s why I would encourage you to look at the most recent edition which is available electronically.  I have created a short screencast so that you can see how to access it from the Discovery Service.
