BBC News has just reported that Terry Pratchett died today, aged 66. Terry Pratchett was the much admired author of over 70 fantasy novels including the renowned Discworld series and will be missed by many fans worldwide.

Happy birthday Charles Lutwidge Dodgson!

This week marks the birthday of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (27 January 1832 – 14 January 1898), otherwise known by his pen name Lewis Carroll. Alice in Wonderland was one of his most famous children’s books and this year is it’s 150th anniversary.

PD James dies aged 94

Sad news broke today of the passing of crime novelist P.D. James, who has reportedly died “peacefully at her home in Oxford”.  Baroness James opened the 2007 extension of the University Library and received an honorary degree from the University
