Pull up at any PC (or iMac) or borrow laptops from any of the banks of grey lockers on the ground floor and plug it in for instant computing at a pace to suit you. You can plug in and wirelessly connect your own laptop and mobile devices to the fast and reliable Eduroam wifi network anywhere on campus, including the Library and 3rd Space next door in the Students’ Union.
The plasma screens in the Library Atrium show green dots where computers are available that are not yet logged in by another student or which have been left unused for sufficiently long (more than 25 minutes) that they have logged themselves out.
Plug in and play
You can plug into any of the many power sockets around the building, including those under the tables and on the walls on the upper floors and in the group study rooms.
Saving private files
This is probably a good moment to remind you to save your work to your N-drive (the computer network drive that is guaranteed to be backed up and secure) before you lock your computer and walk away. Lots of copies keep stuff safe as well – saving more than one copy to different places at the end of a long day is a very good habit to get into early on. It saves you ever losing all your hard work!
