WriteUP: your favourite stories yet to be told

Person writing in a spiralbound notebookDo you like stories?  Perhaps you write them in your spare time, or perhaps you have wanted to but never tried.  Now’s your chance!  The WriteUP Short Story Competition is an exciting new venture brought to you by English Literature students here at the University, offering a prize for short stories written by anyone currently studying or working at the University.  There is no restriction on theme or genre – anyone can enter, and no previous writing experience is necessary.  Entries can be of any length, up to a maximum of 3000 words.  You have exactly a month to write, revise and find a friend to proofread your work.  The deadline for entries is Friday 9th March 2018.

Full details, including how to enter, are available from the WriteUP website.

The competition launches formally at Blackwell Bookshop (next to the Student Union) next Monday, 12 February from 3.30 – 5.30 pm.  After this, you can follow the competition hashtag #WriteUP on Twitter.
