The Blaeu Atlas Major (cover image)One of the largest and most splendid of the multi-volume Dutch world atlases,  the Blaeu Atlas Major, is now freely available online thanks to the National Library of Scotland.   The Blaeu Atlas Major represents the state of geographic knowledge of the world in the mid 17th century, comprising 594 maps and 3,368 pages of text.  When first published in 1662-5, it was the most expensive book for sale at the time.
