Who’s afraid of the big, beautiful ‘r’

No, not the sound Long John Silver made before every other sentence.

Referencing@Portsmouth is for Referencing@Portsmouth: the authoritative source of referencing for all your assignments and dissertations (if you use APA, Vancouver or OSCOLA), on the Library website.  Used 201,323 times during the last academic year, it is an invaluable source of information on how to get most of the marks for referencing for just a little effort.  Click the button on the bottom of any Library web page and choose what you want to reference from the menu for clear examples you can copy and advice on any tricky case.  The FAQs and Cite it sections give further advice on unusual and awkward cases you might come across.

Remember you can always come and chat to a librarian at the Support Services Desk in Area 0A, through online chat (weekdays 9am – 5pm) or phone (T: 023 9284 3228), email (directly at library@port.ac.uk or by web form) at any time 24/7.You can browse by resource type or search the referencing pages.  Almost all of you will want to choose APA (6th ed.).   The only exceptions are Pharmacy/Biomedical Science students, who mostly use Vancouver, Law units, which often use OSCOLA referencing.  Just make sure you are copying from a page for your referencing system.  If in doubt, please ask us.  Happy referencing!
