Tune in or plug in, here or anywhere

ethernet photoCable and cloud

Did you know you can get fast reliable wireless internet access anywhere on campus and actually plug your laptop into the network for an even more reliable cabled connection across the Library ground floor?  Bring your own ethernet cable and plug in for a connection as reliable as a networked PC.  You can do the same with the laptops you can borrow from the grey lockers outside the library seminar rooms (past the Support Services Desk as you enter Area 0A).

Places to plug in

There are power and data sockets underneath the new tables and in meeting pods, and along the walls beside the less formal seating areas.  You can plug your laptops into the power sockets along the walls and beneath tables on the upper floors but at the moment we regret the data sockets on the upper floors do not work.  (If you are a visitor from another institution, we regret you can only connect to our network wirelessly, provided your home institution uses Eduroam.

If you are a visitor from another institution, we regret you can only connect to our network wirelessly, provided your home institution uses Eduroam, although you are welcome to plug your device into our power sockets while you work.

Working from home

You can access Library resources from anywhere as if you were on campus using the Web Proxy Service.  This is a simple, reversible, one-time set up affecting one web browser.  Find out more about the Web Proxy Service here.
