Thomas Edison, born 11th February 1847, was an American inventor and businessman. He developed many life changing devices, including the phonograph, the motion picture camera and a long-lasting electric light bulb.
Edison recognised the value of resources at his local library. At age 11 he started by reading the last book on the bottom shelf, Tom set out to systematically read every book on the shelves. He was a prolific inventor, holding 1,093 US patents in his name, as well as many patents in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Being so well read can only have helped him pursue his inventing ambitions.
