Online Gallery: Turning the Pages

Observant readers will notice that strictly speaker this blog should be called ‘Thing of the Weekday’.  But anyway this has been suggested as a rather nice ‘thing’:

It’s a great way of making precious manuscripts available – though not quite the same as handling the real objects!  The design of the web access, the added features – such as audio commentary, and of course the items themselves, make this well worth exploring.

Our original contributor says:

“There’s nothing quite like turning the pages of a rare or unique book but of the selections on offer I think I’d still choose the Lindisfarne Gospels. However, handling items for real rather than virtually I can’t decide between Blake’s Songs of Innocence and Experience hand coloured by the author or early archives of the Pankhurst’s suffrage movement.”
